Drake Digital SDE24EAS Emergency Alert SD Encoder

<< Previous in Digital TV Equipment Next in Digital TV Equipment >>

Price: $999.00
Item Number: SDE24EAS
Manufacturer: R. L. Drake
Manufacturer Part No: SDE24EAS

Drake has developed a specialized SDE24EAS encoder module to digitize legacy analog EAS receivers for digital distribution. EAS is national public warning system in the United States. The system may be used by federal, state or local authorities to deliver important emergency information. EAS or any "All Call" system is designed to override all channels with the EAS or "All Call" information. Most EAS or "All Call" systems have been analog based. The transition to digital TV distribution provides new methods of implementation. The EAS receiver activates the EH24 encoder host EAS or "All Call" mode by providing a contact closure. Once EAS is activated the EH24 will replace all PIDS with the encoded EAS message from the SDE24 EAS encoder so that all programs contain the message.

Only one SDE24EAS encoder is required per location. The EAS receiver activates all EH24 encoder hosts for EAS mode via a contact closure. The EAS message provided from the SDE24EAS encoder is sent to additional EH24 encoder hosts via the ASI output of the first EH24. Each subsequent EH24 will have an ASII ASI card installed in one of the encoder slots to receive and re-distribute the EAS data to the next EH24.

SCTE 18 is a standard that will force tune SCTE 18 enabled TVs and set tops boxes to the EAS channel when activated. Drake's EH24 encoder host will add the SCTE 18 tables necessary to activate SCTE 18 enabled tuners. The primary EH24 encoder host will require a SDE24EAS for analog EAS receivers or an appropriate digital interface for digital EAS receivers. Similar to the PID substitution implementation above requires an ASII ASI card installed in one of the encoder slots to receive and re-distribute the EAS data.
