Filters
Channel deletion filters are the key to success whenever adding a TV channel to an existing cable system. Regardless of whether you are re-inserting on an active channel or on a so-called "blank channel," it is generally necessary to use a filter to eliminate existing
video and/or "ground-floor noise." Failure to use a filter usually will result in interference and/or grainy picture on the new channel. Channel deletion filters allow the installer to add the new channel into any frequency slot of the clients choice.
Many installers prefer to use a low-pass filter instead of a channel deletion filter when re-inserting a channel onto a cable system. This is due to the lower cost of the LPF. In such situations, the re-inserted channel will need to go on the top side of the existing cable channels since the LPF will pass all channels from channel 2 through to the cutoff channel frequency. A limited number of cutoff frequencies are mass-produced and usually offer adequate choices for most installs. They offer the most economical filtering choices. Should a custom cutoff frequency filter be required, please call our technical sales department for a quote.
